HOWLAND - Anna R. Serbin, 84, of Shepherd of the Valley Howland, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Youngstown, the daughter of Oresti and Carmela Celli Romito.
Anna was employed as a tin inspector with National Can Corp. for 16 years.
She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, vegetable and flower gardening, and bird watching. She had attended the Kinsman Senior Site.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carmella "Kitty" (Jerry) Neilson of Howland and Dorothy "Dotty" (Richard) Stecyk-Hope of Warren; three sons, Steve Serbin, George Serbin and James Serbin all of Warren; daughter-in-law, Sandie Serbin of Warren; grandchildren, Samantha Neilson, Lauren Hope, Tiffany LaValiere, Tina Serbin, Jamie Lewis, James Serbin, Stacey Serbin and Sean Neilson; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Mary Alice) Romito of Poland; a special friend, Michael Padula; and numerous nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John E. Stecyk, whom she married May 28, 1949, and who passed away June 3, 1967; and her second husband, George Serbin, whom she married Feb. 15, 1975, and who passed away Jan. 18, 1996; four brothers, Anthony, Frank, James and Albert Romito; and two sisters, Eldora Fritsch and Rose Romito.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service on Saturday. The Rev. Rusty Cowden will be officiating.
Burial will be at Sager Memorial Park.
