While attending a high school dance, Peggy would meet her future husband. It was on Aug. 4, 1962, that Margaret M. Waris and her high school sweetheart, Ronald "Ronnie" Burr, were united in marriage. The couple would then make their home in Leavittsburg.
Peggy had been employed by Strouss' Department Store, Sears and also for AVI in the cafeteria at the General Motors Plant in Lordstown. Making a loving home for her family was Peggy's favorite occupation. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and ironing, "it relaxes me," she was often heard remarking.
The family spent every summer at their cottage in Geneva-on-theLake where they swam, collected items along the shore of Lake Erie and picnicked with their many friends. She loved going to antique shops and searching for hidden, rare treasures.
When she was a kindergarten assistant at Bascom Elementary, the children loved her and the neighborhood kids would always be welcomed in her home. Peggy was a compassionate person, devoted to her family and a faithful friend who reached out when anyone was in need. Her grandchildren were her passion.
Peggy was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Cherished memories of Peggy will be carried on by her loving family, her husband, Ronald; her son, Ronald John Burr and his girlfriend, Judy Tompkins; her daughter, Maria Walter and her husband, Erik; her adored grandchildren, Luke Walter and Isabel Walter; her sister, Patricia Miller Neatrour and her husband, Fred; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Tomko and her husband Joseph, and Jean Waris; her special cousin, Sally Garghill; her goddaughter, Michelle Beauchene; her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her lifelong dear friend, Lucille D'Andrea.
Preceding Peggy in death were her parents and her brother, James Waris.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the date and time to be announced or friends may contact the family.
The family requests that material tributes may be made in memory of Peggy to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry Ave. N.W., Warren.
