LAKELAND, Fla. - Thalia "Tay" Peden, 90, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Vernon, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Florida.
She was born June 17, 1923, in Youngstown, the daughter of Scott and Marabel Sherwood McLead.
She was a graduate of Vernon High School. She and her husband, Fred, started Peden's Meats in Vernon in 1958.
Thalia was a member of the United Methodist Temple Church in Lakeland. She enjoyed Lake Erie sunsets and Florida beaches.
In 1994, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Peden, whom she married in 1939.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cline of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, Gary (Jeanne) Peden of Kinsman; and a granddaughter, Janis Peden (Kevin) Prosnick of Howland.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Duane, in 2009; and a sister, Ruth Titus.
Friends and relatives may call from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford. The funeral service will be at noon.
Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Vernon.
