WARREN - Sallie Mae Cofield Pollard, 82, of 759 Maple St. S.W., Warren, departed this life at 4:04 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center following an extended illness.
She was born April 28, 1931, in Caseda, Ala., the daughter of Dee and Leila Perry Cofield Sr., residing in the area since September 1956, coming from Opelika, Ala.
Mrs. Pollard was employed with Packard Electric as an assembler for 29 years before retiring July 1997.
She was a former member of New Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served on the kitchen committee, attended Sunday school and enjoyed collecting dolls, gardening and shopping.
She married Elijah Pollard Dec. 31, 1950, and he died Jan. 18, 1997.
She leaves to mourn three daughters, Mrs. Martha Jo (Gary) Castor of Clayton, N.C., Miss Beverly Jean Pollard and Miss Phyllis L. Pollard, both of Warren; three sisters, Ms. Mattie Cofield and Ms. Louise Blount, both of Miami, and Ms. Mandy Cofield of New York; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Ms. Eldora Harper, Ms. Edna Cofield, Dee Cofield Jr., Ms. Emma Cofield, Arthur Cofield and Ms. Martha Strickland.
Funeral services will be held noon Friday at King of Kings Fellowship, 634 Hoyt St. S.W., Warren. Calling hours are one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon.
Burial will take place in Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family also will receive friends at 2746 Merriweather St. S.W., the home of her daughter, Phyllis Pollard.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
