LEAVITTSBURG - Marie K. Dovala, 94, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
She was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Aliquippa, Pa., to the late George and Anna Hudaski Kmetz.
Marie married her late husband, John Dovala, in 1941, and they were married for 45 years before his passing in 1986.
She retired from the Ohio Turnpike Commission in 1986 after working for 16 years as a toll collector.
Marie was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and an avid reader of the Bible, and she shared her faith with everyone she knew.
Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and cooking.
Marie is survived by her children, Richard (Carole) Dovala of Yorba Linda, Calif., Ruth (Frederick) Larson of Leavittsburg and Jonathan (Seetala) Dovala of Playa Del Ray, Calif.; grandchildren, Michael (Shipra) Larson, David (Michelle) Larson and Stacey (Lee) Barron; and great-granddaughter, Mary Witkowski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John Dovala; twin brother, Michael Kmetz; and siblings, George Kmetz, Anne Seman, Mary Kmetz and a stillborn infant sibling.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive N.E. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry St. N.W., with an hour of visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Newton Falls West Side Cemetery.
