WARREN - Honorary Senior Deacon Johnnie McAllister, 89, departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center after a brief illness. He lived with his son, Kenzel Chilton, prior to his short stay with Vista Care Center Autumn Hills.
Honorary Senior Deacon Johnnie was born May 28, 1924, in Gibson, Miss., to the late Tom and Annie Eastes McAllister. He resided in the Warren area after being in the U.S. Army in 1946.
In 1967, he united in holy matrimony to the late Mother Anna Mae McAllister.
Honorary Senior Deacon Johnnie was known as "Boe," "Papa" and "Deacon Mints" to all who knew and loved him. He served as senior deacon of the Warren mission of Supreme Council of the House of Jacob for many years. He was involved in the district senior saints organization; he loved to travel for the Lord; and he was a loyal and devoted saint to the church.
He was a special man and very soft-spoken. He loved the Lord and always had a calm and peaceful manner about himself. He loved his church family.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Paul Chilton Jr. and Kenzel Chilton Sr., both of Warren; one daughter, Yvonne McAllister of Lacross, Wis.; two grandsons, Kenzel Chilton Jr. (Amie) of Kansas City, Kansas, and Patrick Blutcher of Warren; two granddaughters, Sister Felicia Smith of Warren and Lena Chilton of Southaven, Miss.; three great-grandsons, Jeffrey Boe Rucker, John'Tae Jones and Lamont Jones, all of Warren; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Chilton of Texas; two great-great-granddaughters, Symphony Rucker of Warren and TyYonna Smith of Columbus; close family friend, Sister Wanda Richardson; along with a host of family and friends from Mississippi.
Honorary Senior Deacon was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his spouse.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Supreme Council of The House of Jacob, Bethlehem Township, Ohio. Interment will follow in Macpelah Burial Acres.
Arrangements were handled by Given-Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton.
