WARREN - Mr. Albert R. Walters, 87, of Warren, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center.
Mr. Walters was born April 30, 1926, in Brewton, Ala., a son of Wallace Lee and Estella Randolph Walters.
He worked for 45 years as a heavy equipment operator with J. S. Durig Company and Local No. 66 in Warren.
He was a faithful member of Hoyt Street Flourishing Ministry Church of God In Christ where he served as deacon.
He was a former member of the Masonic Order.
Albert was an avid gardener and a great handyman. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and sightseeing. He had a passion for helping others and volunteered with the Second Baptist Food Pantry and was a member of the Warren G. Harding Band Boosters.
He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren in sports, especially his three grandsons who are in the NFL. Above all, Albert loved being with his family and grandchildren.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, the mother of his eight children, Letha M. Berry Walters; his children, Wallace Walters of Texas, Freddie (Antoinette) Walters of Rochester, N.Y., Beverly J. Sparks, Vivian F. (Pastor Gerald) Morgan, Brenda J. (Bishop David) Herron, JaNiece R. Walters, and Prescott E. Walters, all of Warren, and Ronald F. (Jodie) Walters of Minneapolis, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Gwendolyn and Reginald R. Walters; three sisters, Linnie Mae Jackson, Mamie J. Williams, Katherine Walters; and four brothers, Willie, Robert, Cleveland and Preston Walters.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Monument of Faith Church of God In Christ, 2165 Highland Ave. S.E., Warren, Ohio 44485.
Funeral services will follow immediately at 11 a.m.
