I would just like to share my experience as a new volunteer at Trumbull Mobile Meals with the Tribune Chronicle readers.
I started volunteering about three weeks ago as a ''packer.'' At the time, I had no idea what that entailed. And let me tell you, I have never seen such organization, commitment and dedication of staff and volunteers in such a limited space.
Believe me when I say I have worked in and gone to many fine dining restaurants, and have never been this impressed. You really have to see it to believe it.
What the volunteer manager, staff, cooks, prep cooks and volunteers do in about three hours, you would be amazed.
I delivered meals 30-plus years ago and would come in, get the cold and hot bags, never knowing what it took to do all this, and go out and deliver.
Not taking anything away from the drivers, because if it were not for them, this very well-oiled machine would not work.
I would like to thank all the staff and all the great volunteers for helping the new girl get into the swing of things.
Keep up the great work you all do, and I am very sure you will.
