Ex-commissioner eyes Columbiana post
LISBON - Former Columbiana County commissioner John Wargo is among those who have formally asked to be considered for appointment to a vacancy on the Colum-biana County Port Authority board.
Wargo had sent his resume to each county commissioner, along with a cover letter asking to be considered for the position. The seat on the five-member port authority has been vacant since Jan. 1 after the four-year term of Rob Johnson expired. Rather than reappoint Johnson, the son of the county Democratic Party chairman, the three Republican commissioners indicated they wanted to consider other candidates.
The position pays $7,020 a year and comes with health insurance benefits.

State may cut bag limits for deer hunters
COLUMBUS - Ohio wildlife officials have proposed hunting policies that would reduce the bag limit for deer for most of the state's counties.
The Department of Natural Resources says its Division of Wildlife has proposed reducing the bag limit in 44 counties, keeping it the same in 39 and increasing it in five counties.
A department release says the proposals reflect the reduced deer population in many counties.
The public can comment on the Division of Wildlife proposals at public meetings March 1 and online at wildohio.com through March 2. A statewide hearing on all of the proposed rules will be held at the Division of Wildlife's District One office in Columbus on March 6.
The Ohio Wildlife Council will vote on the proposed policies in April after considering public input.
