Darkness is a big part of living with an addict. You feel pain, loss and hate all at once or at different times.
According to Martin Luther King, darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can. That quote to me goes a long way with one's life, especially if he or she is an addict.
You see, when you are partying constantly, you are in a dark place and feel as if that darkness will never shine again, but like Dr. King spoke, the light will drive out the darkness. Therefore, there is light at the end of that drug / alcohol-filled tunnel.
Once you get to that light, and there is no wrong way to get there, your whole world and your family's world shines like the brightest star in the sky.
