NORTH JACKSON - It's been since the late 1980s that a Jackson-Milton football player inked a college football scholarship.
Jeremy Fitzpatrick has now put an end to that skid.
The Blue Jays senior quarterback decided on the University of Charleston in Charleston, W. Va. - a NCAA Division II school.
"It's nice to say I came from little Jackson-Milton," Fitzpatrick said. "It's pretty satisfying to say I'm going somewhere to play football and I'm getting a scholarship."
In two years, Fitzpatrick (6-foot-4, 190 pounds) led Jackson-Milton by completing 281 of 543 passes for 4,240 yards and 33 touchdowns. The Blue Jays' QB was 175 of 309 for 2,270 yards with 20 TDs and three interceptions last season.
