NILES - Rose M. DeChristopher, 99, of Niles, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles.
She was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Niles, the daughter of Domenick and Maria Fagnano Guerra.
She was a 1932 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, employed at General Electric in Niles and at Kresge's 5 & 10 and Carlisle's Department store as a sales clerk, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Parish in Niles, church festival volunteer, Mount Carmel Society, Catholic Women's Guild, and enjoyed flower arranging, gardening, dancing and artwork.
Her husband, Peter DeChristopher, whom she married Oct. 27, 1945, died April 2, 1997.
Rose, who always had a smile on her face and was kind to everyone, will be deeply missed by a brother, Fred Guerra of Niles; a sister-in-law, Anne Guerra of Niles; and several nephews and nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Philip Guerra(Emily), Fabian Guerra(Rita) and Joseph Guerra; a sister, Anne Guerra Rizzi; a brother-in-law, John Rizzi; and a sister-in-law, Mary Guerra.
Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, with the Rev. John-Michael Lavelle officiating, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
The family wishes to give special thanks to The Manor at Autumn Hills for their special care and compassion for Rose.
