MASURY - Peter C. George Sr., 90, of Masury, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Assumption Village, North Lima, following an extended illness.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1923, in Webster, Mass., the son of Christos and Alexandra Tasoulis George.
Peter served with the U.S. Air Force, where he worked in the Office of Special Investigation. A veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theater of operations.
Mr. George retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Co. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation, Farrell, Pa.
Survivors include two sons, Peter C. Jr. of Lackawannock Township, Pa., and Charles of Canfield; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Aristidis C. of North Fort Myers, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a grandson and a sister.
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. today, where a the Trisagion service will begin at 6:45 p.m., and from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the noon funeral service Saturday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. in Sharon, Pa.
Interment will take place in Mount Washington Cemetery in Jefferson Township with committal prayers to be held in the D. Clyde Jewell Memorial Chapel. Following the committal prayer, full military honors will be rendered by the honor guard from West Middlesex VFW Post 6233 and the Wheatland American Legion Post 432.
