CORTLAND - Doris Lorraine Ohl, 67, of Cortland, died at 1:23 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at UH Geauga Medical Center in Chardon.
She was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Sharon, Pa., the daughter of the late Mathias and Marjorie Bates Swartz.
Doris was a 1964 graduate of Howland High School. She had worked at Packard Delphi, at Triad as a telephone Repair Service Technician, AVI and also as a caregiver.
She was a very active member of the Bristolville United Methodist Church, where she sometimes played the piano for church services. She was an accomplished musician who could play the piano and accordion without written music.
Doris loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. She was a nature buff, loved animals, especially horses and cats. She kept busy bird watching and feeding, playing the piano, cards and scrabble.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Ohl, whom she married July 31, 1982; two daughters, Jennie (John A.) Bechtel of Hubbard and Tami Ohl of Cortland; four grandchildren, Kaelyn and Jeremiah Hickey, both of Cortland, and Noelle and Keith Bechtel of Hubbard; two siblings, Frances Sliver of Warren and James (Bernie) Swartz of Cortland; and many nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Swartz, and her niece, Sue Frank.
Funeral services will be held noon Monday at the Bristolville United Methodist Church, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Roger Norton will celebrate Doris' life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 545 Brunstetter Road S.W., Warren, OH 44481.
