LEGO LEAGUE TO COMPETE: Austintown Middle School will host the first Lego League District Tournament from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Austintown Middle School.
The First Lego League is a robotics program that is designed to get children excited about science and technology while teaching life skills such as teamwork, communication and work ethic.
In the challenge Saturday, teams must discover ways to help people using robots during different natural disasters. The winners of the tournament will advance to the state tournament Feb. 8 and 9 at Wright State University.
BLOCK WATCH TO MEET: The Fourth Watch Blockwatch will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Girard Multi-Generational Center, Trumbull Avenue.
GRIEF PROGRAM OFFERED: Grief 101, a program presented by Hospice of the Valley bereavement facilitators, will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Joe's at the Mall, Eastwood Mall, Niles. The program will explain the grieving process and its effect on people and families. Support materials will be distributed.

MENTAL HEALTH GROUP TO MEET: The First Ohio Chapter of the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health will present "Technology Addiction" at a meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. today at D&E Clinic, 142 Javit Court, Austintown. FRIENDS SEEK BOOKS: Hubbard Friends of the Library, 436 W. Liberty St., is in need of young children's books. The books can be brought to the circulation desk during regular library hours. The friends will also accept puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs, and videos.
