GARRETTSVILLE - An extra period and some clutch foul shooting was the difference for Bristol as it rallied for a 75-73 overtime victory over Garfield to stay perfect on the season.
With the win, the Panthers are now 7-0 and have won 30 straight regular-season games, dating back to the 2011-12 season.
For the win Friday, Bristol came back after trailing, 32-27 at the half. In the second half, Bristol outscored the G-Men 36-31.
In overtime, Johnny Simcox scored nine of his 16 points, including three clutch free throws at the end to seal the victory. He also had a game-high five assists for the Panthers.
Brandon Lee led Bristol with 20 points. Gary Hopson added 12.
Garfield's Anthony Workman scored a game-high 30 points for the G-Men (6-3).
MINERAL RIDGE 65, MATHEWS 50: MINERAL RIDGE - Mathews had the advantage after three quarters, but Mineral Ridge outscored the Mustangs, 29-8, in the fourth quarter to come away with the 15-point victory.
The Rams held a slight edge at half, 28-27, but Mathews came back out of the break and took a 42-36 lead into the fourth. Then came the Rams.
Zac Hagy scored 14 of his game-high 30 points in the fourth quarter to lead the charge. He also had 16 of his points in the second. He had to sit out all of the third due to foul trouble.
Along with Hagy, Ryan Nutter scored nine points and grabbed a 17 rebounds. Mineral Ridge is now 5-2 on the season.
Wyatt Ford led Mathews (2-4) with 15 points. Wade Sharp added 10.
CHAGRIN FALLS 65, CHAMPION 31: CHAMPION - It was a rough night for the Golden Flashes in a loss to Chagrin Falls.
The Tigers jumped to a 20-5 first-quarter lead then went into halftime with a 28-6 advantage.
Both Chris Miller and Logan Cochran each scored nine points to lead Champion (0-6).
BROOKFIELD 57, LAKEVIEW 42: CORTLAND - Three Brookfield players scored in double digits to lead the Warriors past the host Bulldogs in the Lakeview Holiday Tournament.
Brookfield's Seth Wallace led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Nate Johnson (16) and Caleb Hunkus (13). The Warriors are now 5-2 on the season.
On the other side, Lakeview (1-6) didn't have one player in double digits. Brandon Keller led the Bulldogs with nine points. Ryan Pishotti added seven points and five assists.
LAKESIDE 67, CARDINAL 62: CORTLAND - Lorenz Sistrunk scored 17 points to lead Lakeside past Cardinal in the Lakeview Holiday Tournament.
Marcell Ballenger added 12 points for Lakeside, which is now 4-3 on the season.
Cardinal's Jake DiBlasio led all scorers with 24 points. The Huskies are now 6-1 on the year.
The Lakeview Holiday Tournament continues tonight with Lakeview and Cardinal taking the floor at 6 p.m., followed by Lakeside and Brookfield.
MOGADORE 86, CHALKER 61: SOUTHINGTON - Mogadore dropped 12 3-pointers en route to its victory over Chalker.
Seven different Mogadore players connected from beyond the arc. Casey Ruppell scored nine of his game-high 25 points from 3-point range.
Eric Wilson was the high scorer for Chalker (4-2) with 22 points.
URSULINE 63, STEUBENVILLE 57: EAST LIVERPOOL - The Fighting Irish used a huge fourth quarter to complete a comeback win over Steubenville in the Potter Holiday Classic.
Ursuline (4-2) trailed by five to seven points for much of the game, but the Irish outscored the Big Red 28-15 in the final frame to get the win. Ursuline went 8 of 11 from the charity stripe to seal the deal.
The Irish had three players do most of the damage in the fourth, starting with Dave Collins' eight points, and both Gino Naples and Mark Hughes contributed six points each, while Naples grabbed four boards and Hughes collected four steals. Hughes finished with a game-high 18 points, Collins added 17 and Naples provided eight.
Ursuline will play Painesville Harvey in the tournament's championship game on today.
LOWELLVILLE 62, BADGER 50: KINSMAN - Pablo DePasquale helped Lowellville build an early lead, and the Rockets cruised past Badger in a non-conference matchup.
DePasquale scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the first half, including 12 in the first quarter. Lowellville (5-1) outscored Badger, 31-15, in the first half. Cole Bratty added 15 for the Rockets.
Brandon Bates paced Badger (2-6) with 12 points. Colton Kellogg added 10 for the Braves, which host Grand Valley on Friday.
NEWTON FALLS 47, SOUTH RANGE: NORTH LIMA - Ozzie Hawkins made sure Newton Falls held off South Range with a big fourth quarter as the Tigers won a non-conference showdown.
Hawkins scored nine of his game-high 17 points in the fourth. Newton Falls (5-3) led throughout (South Range hit a 3 at the buzzer for the final margin) thanks to a 15-7 run in the second quarter. The Tigers hit eight 3s - three in the second quarter. The Tigers plays host Jefferson on Friday.
Garrett Anderson led the Raiders with 14 points. South Range outscored the Tigers 26-18 in the second half, but a 29-18 halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
CANFIELD 78, BOARDMAN 67: CANFIELD - Canfield shot nearly 50 percent from the field and never let Boardman come back from an early deficit in a non-conference affair.
Four players scored in double figures for the Cardinals (5-2), led by Andrew Midgley's 19 points. He scored 15 points in the first half as Canfield took a 45-36 lead. Jarret Vrabel added 15 points for the Cardinals. Mike Yourstowsky registered 11, and Brady Clark chipped in 10 for Canfield, which shot 23 of 47 from the field.
Boardman hung around by shooting 8 of 13 from 3-point land. Brian Fryda paced the Spartans (1-6) with 17 points, including three 3s. Preston Stitt recorded 15 points, and Gannon Murray poured in 13.
