CHAMPION - Francis J. Kreps, 84, of Champion Township, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 24, 2013, in the emergency room at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 4, 1929, in Butler, Pa., the son of the late Henry S. and Eleanor Kemper Kreps.
Francis was a graduate of Westminster College and furthered his education at Mount Union College, where he received his master's degree in education.
Mr. Kreps taught business education for several area school districts before his retirement from education. Frank then worked for both Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and the Knights of Columbus Life Insurance Companies for several years.
In his free time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, working puzzles and wintering in Florida with his wife in their RV Camper. He was also a member V.F.W. Post #1091 and the Knights of Columbus Council #7491.
He is survived by his stepsons, Wayne (Mary) Kwallek of Southington, Vollne (Nancy) Kwallek of Austin, Texas and Les (Ingrid) Kwallek of Creston; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his caregivers, Dave and Nora Devlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Edna Smith Kwallek, whom he married Aug. 20, 1960; two brothers, Bernard and Charles Kreps; and two sisters, Sister Mary Henry Kreps and Alma Kreps.
The Rev. Michael Balash will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial to be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. William's Catholic Church. Friends may call one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to St. Williams Church.
