CORTLAND - Walter R. Brown Sr., 74, passed away at his home and went to be with his Lord, with his wife by his side, Tuesday night, Dec. 24, 2013.
He was born June 23, 1938, in Greensboro, Pa., the son of Theodore Arlington Brown and Margaret Anne Kirchner Brown.
Walter was a loving husband, father and Pop who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Walter was also a lifetime member of Trumbull Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn S. Krutko Brown, whom he married June 6, 1959; his four children, Walter Brown Jr. of California, Debra Cleland of Niles, James (Robin) Brown of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and David R. (Ruthanne) Brown of Cortland; four grandchildren, Rose and Madalyn Brown of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Leanne and David Brown of Cortland; one brother, Harry Brown of Bobtown, Pa.; one sister, Joyce (George) Lee of Burghill; and two beloved cats, Blossom and Reese.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Theodore Brown; and one sister, Juanita Peluso.
Funeral services for Walter will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Church in Cortland. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St., Cortland.
Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Bazetta Township.
