I recently attended an event in Trumbull County that I feel is worthy of much praise. The inaugural 20 Under Twenty awards banquet held at DiVieste's Banquet Hall was phenomenal in so many ways.
I was very impressed with the 20 young people who received this well-deserved award. Their various interests and charitable acts exemplify the passion and desire they have to be of service to others and to be a valued member of their community.
Each of the top five students gave acceptance speeches that included an explanation of their individual community projects as well as praise to their teachers, mentors and parents.
I am extremely proud of each and every one of these outstanding young people and I hope they continue to provide their communities with the ideals they conveyed to those of us in attendance at the banquet. They will undoubtedly have bright futures if they continue to follow their hearts and dreams.
I would also like to compliment Sue Shafer, event coordinator, for a job well done. She along with Akron Children's Hospital made the evening a very memorable one.
