Tribune Chronicle |

WARREN -- Bond for a Cortland financial adviser accused of bilking nearly $50,000 from an elderly Mineral Ridge woman was set at $20,000 during his arraignment in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court today.

Orlando Montoya, 36, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court this morning.

He is charged with one count of theft from an elderly person, a felony. Court officials said they likely will schedule him to be back in court for a preliminary hearing later this month.

Prosecutors said 76-year-old Shelby Donley gave Montoya money he was suppose to invest into annuity and insurance policies on her behalf. Instead, he had her write personal checks to him, which he then invested into his own bank account.

Complete coverage will be available in Friday's Tribune Chronicle print edition.
