NORTH PORT, Fla. - Alfred E. Parker, 94, of North Port, Fla., formerly of Mineral Ridge, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013.
Alfred was born March 22, 1919, to parents George and Elsie Fusselman Parker.
Alfred served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.
He married Lila Bright, and together they had two wonderful daughters.
Alfred worked as a forklift driver for Packard Electric.
He was a lifetime member and past commander of the VFW Post 4192 in Mineral Ridge. He was a member of the Amphibious Squad and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge.
He is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis Unger of North Port, Fla., and Lela Mae Parker of Parma; a sister, Bertha Sattler of Niles; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lila, who passed away in 1988; and sisters, Mildred Branch, Bernice Miller and Florence Bricker.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Kerr Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, in Alfred's memory.
