WARREN - James "Jim" Eino Jokinen, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Hospice House.
Jim was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Jefferson, a son of the late Eino Wilhelm and Vera Agatha Lahti Jokinen.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force, Jim was employed as an electrician at Packard Electric for 45 years, where he was affectionately referred to as "Jimmy-Jo." He was a very avid reader, specializing in history, especially facts regarding World War II and automobiles, and acquired quite an extensive library of books.
Being a classic car as well as hot rod enthusiast, Jim could with just a glance of an automobile name the make, model, year as well as type of engine the car should have without even opening the hood. He enjoyed attending car shows in Ohio and Pennsylvania, as well as Florida, when he would visit his daughter. He was also an avid chess player, having participated in chess tournaments throughout his life.
He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble with his wife. In his later years, he attended the surrounding casinos, where he enjoyed the horse races.
Jim's memories will be cherished by his loving wife, the former Barbara Ann Marks, whom he married Dec. 6, 1961; his son, David Jokinen of Champion; and his daughter, Deborah "Debbie" (Dave) Wilson of Stuart, Fla.
The family would like to offer a special thank-you to Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion during the last months of Jim's life.
It was Jim's wishes there would be no service, and his ashes will remain with the family.
