Hospital displays local art
More than 100 pieces of original art will be available for sale in an exhibition currently on display in the Nissen Gallery at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E. Market St., Warren.
The 2013 Trumbull Area Artists Holiday Show includes pieces by 27 local artists, all priced at $100 or less.
The work will be on display through Jan. 2. Purchases should be made through Peg Krozier in the hospital's administration office or by calling 330-841-1900.
YSU groups play Stambaugh concert
Youngstown State University's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Monday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
The concert, titled "Portraits & Tributes," will feature music written to commemorate a significant event or as a musical portrait, including Ralph Vaughn Williams' "Folk Song Suite," LoPresti's "Elegy for a Young American," Copland's "A Lincoln Portrait" and Maslanka's Symphony No. 1 - "A Child's Garden of Dreams." The Copland and Maslanka pieces will be narrated by Jeffrey L Tyus, an associate professor of communication at YSU.

Kaplan plays pre-Chanukah concert
Singer-songwriter Jordan Kaplan will perform a pre-Chanukah concert in memory of Dr. Zeev Rabinowitz at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Children of Israel, 3970 Logan Way, Liberty.
As a producer and studio musician, Kaplan has worked with such artists as Judy Collins, Richie Havens, Art Garfunkel, Bette Midler, Phoebe Snow and Carol Bayer Sager.

Christmas light show opens Friday
The drive-through "Joy of Christmas" light display opens Friday at Firestone Park, 338 E. Park Ave., Columbiana.
The display features more than 60 holiday light scenes, Santa's Ice Castle, a Gingerbread House and miniature train rides.
It will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday through Dec. 17 and nightly from Dec. 19 to 29. Admission is $8 per carload. For more information, call 330-482-2282.
Good Life Singers celebrate Christmas
The Good Life Singers will present their annual holiday concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula.
"The Stories of Christmas" will feature many familiar and favorite carols, including "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," "Santa Lucia," "O, Tannenbaum," "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells." The non-profit group made up of volunteer singers began in 1976.
