LIBERTY TWP -- Alcohol may have been a factor in a serious injury crash involving two vehicles on state Route 11 this morning, according to the Ohio State Patrol.

The driver of one car, Richard Powers, 56, of Warren, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital after his Saturn struck the rear of a Dodge minivan driven by Charlene Heath-Lacava, 48, of Ashtabula, and then crossed through the median and struck trees on the east side of the northbound lanes.

The crash occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on state Route 11 southbound near milepost 49.

Heath-Lacava and three passengers were transported to Northside Medical Center with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is a developing story. For more information, read Sunday's Tribune Chronicle or visit
