Trumbull Head Start receives $3.1 million
WARREN - Trumbull County Action Program in Warren was awarded $3.1 million for its Head Start program, U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, D-Niles, announced late Thursday.
The grant is part of the Head Start full-year, part-day handicapped training and technical assistance program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The money will fund the program starting today through Oct. 31, 2018.
Fire damages vacant house in Warren
WARREN - Fire crews were called to a fire Thursday morning at a vacant house on Front Street S.W.
Officials said flames were contained quickly. The fire started around 8:55 a.m. on the first floor in the back of the house but spread to the second floor of the two-story wood frame structure, they said.
No injuries were reported. Officials said the house, which was boarded up, had been vacant for some time. The cause is under investigation.
Officials estimated the structure sustained about $20,000 in damage.
City records show that the house is owned by Phyllis Ewing of Canfield.
