WARREN - The city man who pleaded guilty last month to beating and stomping his ex-girlfriend's father to death was sentenced to 10 years in prison today in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

The charge against Jarred Watson, 28, was reduced from the original murder charge to involuntary manslaughter in a plea agreement in which he agreed before Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice, who also sentenced him, to plead guilty to the lesser charge.

Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk said George Myers, 57, of Dickey Avenue N.W., died after the June 6 beating from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries. Police said it appeared he was beaten to death with a blunt object and may have been stomped to death.

Watson has been held in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond, but Rice revoked the bond Thursday.
