QUANTICO, Md. - Nancy Elizabeth Colburn, 63, of Quantico, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.
Nancy was born in Warren, the daughter of Fred and Lucille VanAuker.
She was a lifetime member of the Federalsburg VFW post 5246 and her many passions in life included quilt making, dress making and charity.
Nancy was an accomplished sailor and teacher, achieving her captain's license. She worked to educate women through Womanship of Annapolis. As an Equine Trigger Point Myo-Therapist she enjoyed many years working with horses throughout the east coast. Her compassionate and caring nature will carry on through the many people who have touched her life and the love that was so freely given.
Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Ernie Colburn; sons Christopher and Douglas; daughter Jennifer; stepdaughter Patricia Raye; sister Carol Zembower; brother Bobby VanAuker; and nine beloved grand-children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Child Fund International, P.O. Box 26507, Richmond, VA 23261-6507. Mrs. Colburn, for many years, has sponsored children in Bolivia and Equador.
