Youngstown Playhouse will stage Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Talley's Folly" as part of its Griffith-Adler Series.
The two-character, one-act play is a romance / comedy / drama about a man and a woman who get meet in an old boathouse in rural Missouri in 1944. Matt wants to ask Sally to marry him, but there are more than a few obstacles. Sally is a Protestant, and Matt is Jewish and a decade older than Sally. Over the course of the evening, the couple discovers the things that could keep them apart - or make them perfect for each other.
Judd Hirsch and Trish Hawkins starred in the Broadway production in 1980, and an Off-Broadway revival earlier this year featured Danny Burstein and Sarah Paulson.
Mary Ruth Lynn directs the Playhouse production featuring Katie Seminara and Eric Kibler.
"Talley's Folly" will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Oct. 25-26 in the Moyer Room of the Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and senior citizens. For tickets or more information, call 330-788-8739.
