WARREN - Michael Edward Sferra, 67, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Oct. 11, 2013, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Michael was born Jan. 8, 1946, in Warren, the son of the late Edward "Bizz" and Josephine "Phina" Iarussi Sferra.
Michael served in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired after 32 years of service at General Motors Lordstown. He was of the Catholic faith, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Michael and his wife, Patricia, had spent their winters in Lecanto, Fla., for the past 20 years. Together with his wife they owned the Dairy Queen on Youngstown Road.
Michael's memories will be cherished by his wife, the former Patricia Dickson, whom he married Nov. 15, 1969; two sons, Charles Sferra and Michael (Lisa) Sferra, both of Warren; two brothers, Daniel (Deanna) Sferra and David (Jill) Sferra, both of Warren; one sister, Mary Jo Florek of Warren; two grandchildren, Ashley Brown of Warren and Sam Schimley-Sferra of Niles; one great-grandson, Major Richardson; several nieces and nephews, their spouses and children; and his English bulldog, Hazel Rose.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Michael's name.
Private services will be held at a later date.
