MECCA - Doris M. Donegan, 97, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Hospice House of Poland.
She was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Mecca, the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Duncan Graham.
Doris was a 1933 graduate of Mecca High School.
Mrs. Donegan was a homemaker, as she was an immaculate housekeeper and a great cook. She also loved to play cards, and when her husband was alive, they loved to dance.
For a short time Doris worked for the Bower Insurance Co. in Cortland as a secretary.
Doris was a member of the West Mecca United Methodist Church.
Survivors include several cousins and many friends.
Other than her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Donegan, on Aug. 5, 1999; they were united in marriage on May 6, 1936.
Our thanks to Dr. Jeff Bedlion and his staff, who treated her so kindly for several years; her pastor, Ron McIlvaine, and her church family; Home Instead caregivers, who gave her companionship and good care; and Hospice of the Valley and Hospice House of Poland, for making her way easier.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where Pastor Ron McIlvaine will celebrate Doris' life. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the West Mecca United Methodist Church, 1215 Greenville Road, Cortland, OH 44410.
