WARREN - The beloved Henry "Mickey" Williamson, 75, left this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2013.
Mickey was born on July 19, 1938, in Warren to his loving parents, Max and Claudia Williamson (Scott), and was deeply cherished by his stepfather, Warfield Scott.
As a young man, Mickey attended and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School. He also served in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of corporal as a combat engineer, and was honorably discharged from the military in 1958.
Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Ms. Rosia Donaldson, whom he wed on Oct. 22, 1960. Their union affectionately brought forth five loving children; Marcial, Tyrone, Tina, Marlon and Janean.
Mickey's life was filled with wonderful experiences and opportunities. Some of these include his time at General Motors and more than 25 years of service as an auxiliary deputy sheriff for Trumbull County.
He was also an accomplished entrepreneur who started Blue Ribbon Janitorial, a family business that served the custodial needs of commercial and small businesses in the local community of Warren. Mickey also spent six years working for the former world championship heavyweight boxer, Mike Tyson, before his retirement.
Mickey was baptized into the body of Christ. He was a member at Eastside Church of Christ in Warren, and later worshipped with the Genesee Church of Christ in Columbus.
Mickey loved listening to jazz music and dedicated most of his energy to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling all over the world and meeting new friends as far as Cologne, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
Although Mickey battled cancer, his final days were spent surrounded by friends and family whom he loved and had impacted in a very memorable way. He would want not to be remembered according to the few years that preceded his death, but rather be considered who he was throughout his life span. His giving soul will always be remembered and is a testament to his faith.
Henry "Mickey" Williamson is survived by his wife, Rosia; five children, Marcial (Gabriele) Williamson of Lakewood, Wash., Tyrone (Jamiel) Williamson Sr. of Sacramento, Calif., Tina Williamson of Las Vegas, Marlon (Tamar) Williamson of Westerville and Janean (Myron) Gibson of Columbus; five siblings, Max (Joyce) Williamson Jr. of Warren, Claude (Joan) Williamson of Howland, JoAnn (Luther) Shaver and Bonnie Burks, both of Warren, and Maxine (Tim) Jones of Niles; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Max Williamson Sr., Claudia Scott and Warfield Scott. He was also preceded by four siblings, Clarence (Cookie) Williamson, Elder Arthur Williamson, Donnie Williamson and Catherine Fleming; two grandchildren, Juliano and Julian Williamson; and one great-grand daughter, Kloe Williams.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Church of Christ, with the wake one hour prior to service at the church.
Services of comfort handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
