WARREN - An Ohio Avenue man accused of beating to death a kitten after an argument with his live-in girlfriend in May is spending the next two months in the Trumbull County Jail.
Warren police charged Jaycen L. Leapline, 34, with a first-degree misdemeanor charge of killing or injuring animals. Leapline pleaded guilty or no contest to the original charge at his plea hearing today in Warren Municipal Court.
He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 120 days of that time suspended. He was also fined $1,000. However, $700 of that was also suspended. He was ordered also sentenced to five years' probation.
Under the judge's orders, he was committed to the county jail for 60 days beginning today.
