Division I sectional tennis starts today at Harvard Park and Stadium Park in Canton - beginning at 9 a.m.
Canfield's doubles team of Hannah Cianciola and Ashley Kaleel, the third-seeded doubles team, has a bye to the second round where they will play Boardman's No. 2 doubles team of Jessica Kozar and Miranda Warchol at Stadium Park.
Howland's No. 1 doubles team of Marissa Jocola and Michelle Lussier and No. 2 doubles team of Deena Awadalla and Bella Elisco both have byes to the second round.
The top four in each singles and doubles advance to Saturday's semifinals and finals. There, they will play for seeding at next week's district at Oberlin College.
In the singles, played at Harvard Park, Howland's No. 1 Nicole Lussier has a bye to the second round. The Tigers' No. 2 Harvest Radich plays Boardman's No. 3 Rebecca Jeren, while Howland's No. 3 Natalie Orr faces Green's No. 3 Bianca Kontra in the first round.
Wednesday, the Division II sectional play begins at 8:15 a.m. for the singles at Boardman High School and at 8:30 a.m. for the doubles at Volney Rogers tennis courts in Mill Creek MetroParks.
Cardinal Mooney dominates the singles and doubles seeding.
Kacey Haggerty and Gianna Reider, the Cardinals' top two singles players during the regular season, are seeded first and third, respectively at Boardman.
Poland's Elise Eckman is the second seed, while Boardman's Ashley Kirila is the fourth seed.
Then, Mooney's doubles team of Jamie DiDomenico and Dominique Cicchi, along with Lexie Kleeh and Lizzie Mathews are the top two doubles seeds.
Poland's Cara Palusak and Audrey Schweers are the third seed, while McDonald's Tory Ross and Jai'Lyn Mosley are the fourth seed.
The top four singles and doubles teams play the semifinals and finals on Saturday at Boardman. They will play for seeding in next week's districts in Canton.
