WARREN - Phillip A. White, 69, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Hospice House in Youngstown after a hard fought two year battle with lung cancer.
He was born April 24, 1944, in Arthurdale, W.Va., the son of Walter Oliver and Margaret Matilda Morris White.
He had been a Trumbull County resident since 1965.
Phillip retired in 2002 after 37 years of service as a maintenance mechanic in the silvering department at GE-Ohio Lamp in Warren.
He was raised in the Methodist church.
He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed yardwork and being outdoors. Phillip loved vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, and was a Cleveland Indians and Browns and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Linda D. Coughenour White, whom he married Nov. 18, 1978; three daughters, Deanna L. (Mike Stiles) White of Newton Falls, Stacey R. (Erik) Gustafson of Norwood, Mass., and Crystal D. (Ron) Stano of Warren; one granddaughter, Serenity Stano; four grandsons, James, Phillip and Andrew Gustafson and Trenton Stano; two sisters, Jackie Turner of Reedsville, W.Va., and Rosemary Kennedy of Masontown, W.Va., and one brother, Morris (Willadean) White of Newton Falls.
One brother, Curtis White preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
