SEMINOLE, Fla. - Dr. Plato Varidin, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
He was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Dayton, the son of Efstathios and Panagiota Varidin, and moved to Florida with his family in 1970 from Warren.
Dr. Varidin was a board-certified family physician and a diplomat of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce S. Varidin; sister, Deme Varidin; daughters, Paulette "Cookie" De Lucia and Anne (David) Gardner; daughter-in-law, Diane Varidin; grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Gina, Matthew (Cheryl), Alex, Jacob, Elijah, Nathan and Julia; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Noah.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Mark E. Varidin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 727-347-6636, where a Trisagion service will be at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church.
Burial will follow in Royal Palm Cemetery.
