Wed 1:33 p.m.: Body of woman found in ditch identified

YOUNGSTOWN - The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has identified the body of a woman found in a ditch on Tuesday.

Shaina D. Criss, 21, of Clarksburg, W. Va., was found around noon in the ditch on Keogh Avenue on the city's East Side.

The coroner's office issued a statement today explaining that invetigators found Criss' purse was lying in the roadway and that a cell phone inside led them to locate member of her family living locally.

An autopsy did not find a cause of death. The coroner's office said they are continuing to investigate.

The autopsy did reveal no evidence of inflicted lethal trauma. Dr. Joseph Ohr, who performed the autopsy, reported only a few scrapes and bruises were found on Criss' body.

He also reported there was no evidence of sexual assault or pregnancy.
