MECCA - William Joseph "Bill" Surdakowski, 74, died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Ellenville, N.Y., the son of the late Henry and Hildegard Dierkes Surdakowski.
He was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla, obtaining his bachelor's degree in engineering.
Bill was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran, serving during peacetime.
Bill retired from Packard Electric after 35 years of service as an engineer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his two daughters, Rebecca A. (Mark) Gluzman of Pittsburgh and Beth C. Surdakowski of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Joseph Gluzman and Meghan Gluzman; and one sister, Irene (Donald) O'Connell of Sarasota, Fla.
Other than his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elise Noonan, on April 16, 2012; they were united in marriage on Oct. 25, 1966.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. The Rev. J. Jeffrey Baker will celebrate Bill's life.
