CHAMPION - Melinda E. Carey, 62, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren of a sudden illness.
She was born April 25, 1951, in Warren, the daughter of the late Wayne Charles and Jane Romanov Masters.
Melinda was a 1969 graduate of Newton Falls High School. She was a devoted Baba and homemaker. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Champion. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a loving wife, mom and Baba.

Melinda enjoyed bowling and yard work, taking great pride in the appearance of her yard.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas L. Carey, whom she married Aug. 10, 1974; two sons, Michael Douglas Carey of Denver and Steven James (Noel) Carey Sr. of Warren; two grandchildren, Madison Jane Carey and Steven James Carey Jr.; one sister, Patricia E. (Christopher) Hanzel of Newton Falls; and one brother, Wayne C. Masters Jr. of Newton Falls. Three nephews also survive.
A private family funeral service will be held at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel. Burial will be at Champion Township Cemetery.
