MONTVILLE - The Geauga County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent shooting-suicide from Tuesday that may have been sparked by a domestic situation.
According to Sheriff Dan McClelland, deputies received a call of a shooting about 4:40 p.m. at a home in Montville Township.
The victim, David Misosky, 53, 15810 GAR Highway, told officers that he was in his garage and had been shot once in the chest. He said his assailant - later identified as Thomas Hakli - then shot himself and was lying in the driveway, presumably dead.
Misosky was flown by helicopter to Metro Hospital in Cleveland, where he underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition Wednesday.
Hakli, 59, whose last know address was in Thompson in northeast Geauga County, was pronounced dead at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 9 mm handgun was found at the scene.
According to sheriff's detectives, the shooting may have stemmed from Misosky's relationship with Hakli's estranged wife. No one else was at the home at the time, according to the sheriff's office.
County Coroner Robert Coleman is investigating and said he'll have more information following the autopsy.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification is assisting the sheriff's office.
