HOWLAND - Robert L. "Bob" Cross, 81, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.
Bob was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Lordstown, the son of Osta and Birdene Cross.
He was a graduate of Lordstown High School. Bob retired from Ohio Bell Telephone as a PBX system installer after 36 years.
He was a member of Blessed John Paul the II Parish (St. Joseph Church), Lordstown SCOPE, Cursillo Movement and the Steven Foster Barbershoppers.
Bob enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, biking, airplanes and attending air shows.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 26 years as a chief petty officer.
He is survived by his two children, Suzanne (Don) McConnell of Mecca and David (Trennia) Cross of Niles; four grandchildren, Carissa and Melissa Allen, and Daniel and Michael McConnell; and one great-granddaughter, Madlyn Munroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis M. Cross, whom he married Feb. 14, 1953, and who passed away Sept. 20, 2009; daughter, Anita Allen; grandson, Eric Allen; and a brother, Elwin Cross.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel in Warren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Wednesday at Blessed John Paul the II Parish (St. Joseph Church) with Rev. Chris Henyk officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta with full Military Honors.
