NILES - Traffic along North Main and Federal streets remains backed up because of a crane that struck the railroad bridge and got stuck beneath it earlier today.
No injuries have been reported.
The hydraulic lift was activated, causing the crane to strike the bridge and cause minor damage to the structure, officials said.
Trumbull County engineers are inspecting the bridge, and The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Niles police and other emergency crews are on the scene.
Police were directing traffic from North Main onto Federal, but had to delay traffic flow at various points because each side of Federal became congested.
Detours have been posted and motorists are being advised to avoid that area, which is just south of McDonald's.
