BAZETTA - The Glenn Christian Foundation will once again provide a free Labor Day weekend event for families with rides, games, food, cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors.
The annual Glenn Christian Ox Roast and Car, Motorcycle and Tractor Show will be held Friday to Sunday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Bazetta.
The event has been voted by ''Crusin' Times'' magazine as best nonprofit show for 14 years in a row.
Event organizers said the event is made possible by the Glenn Christian Foundation membership and by the generosity of dozens of area businesses and private citizens.
The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
There will be free food including roast beef sandwiches, camping, hayrides, fireworks, rides and musical performances, among other attractions.
The Rev. Frank J. Glenn Jr. said the event is not a fundraiser for the church or any charity, but provides a day of fellowship and fun for the community.
The event started in 1996 and has grown from 17 cars and 100 people at the church grounds off U.S. Route 422 to more than 2,000 cars and more than 30,000 spectators in recent years at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.
The schedule is:
Friday: Car cruise from 5 to 10 p.m., bonfire, hayride, and deejay Crazy Dave;
Saturday: Sheltered Reality from noon to 2:30 p.m., Full House from 7 to 9 p.m., deejay Big Rick, top 30 car trophies and 50 motorcycle trophies awarded at 4:30 p.m.;
Sunday: Open air worship at 10:30 a.m., Red Cross blood mobile from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., motorcycle fun run 12:30 to 3 p.m., Sky Pilot Band, noon to 2:30 p.m., deejay Keen Gene, demolition derby at 7 p.m. at grandstand and fireworks at dark.
The demolition derby is scheduled and promoted by the Trumbull County Fair Board. Tickets are available at the grandstand one hour prior.
Cash prizes will be awarded for vehicles, said Beth Himes, one of the event organizers.
