YOUNGSTOWN - Police Wednesday night were looking for a Girard woman accused of stealing from her employer.
Police have charged Alicea Reese, 45, of Girard, with theft and writing bad checks.
An internal investigation by Schultz Towing & Recovery of Youngstown discovered not less than $9,500 in cash was missing, along with at least four receipt books and a $100 propane tank, police reports said.
Reese began working for Schultz Towing on May 6, 2012, and within a month her employer claims receipts went missing that were handled by the suspect, reports said.
The missing items were originally chalked up to a lack of training for the new employee.
When cash and receipts continued to disappear in the months through April of 2013, the business conducted the investigation which led to the accusations, police said.
"All of these discrepancies have been caused by the suspect," the report states.
In addition, Schultz Towing claims Reese confessed to some of the thefts and even attempted to pay back the business for the missing money, reports said. There was a repayment of $850 which was deducted from the suspect's paycheck.
However, the employers said Reese stopped coming to work in mid-April. Schultz Towing brought the matter to police on May 6.
She was still at large Wednesday evening, according to Youngstown police. She is believed to be driving a black Chevrolet sedan.
