NILES Merle Collins, 77, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital inyensive care unit.
Merle was born Nov. 24, 1935 in Connellsville, Pa., to parents Samuel and Florence Catherine McNair Collins.
Merle served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was very proud of his military service.
Merle retired from Steel Door as a shear cutter.
He was a member of the Army Navy #252, VFW, Amvets and Bella Loggia Nopoli Club in Niles.
Survivors include his children: Tom (Martie) Collins of Niles, Debra (Eric) Benchea of Warren, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, former wife Beverly Jean, twin brother Earl and half brother Samuel.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel.
Funeral service will be held noon Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Kerr Cemetery.
