YOUNGSTOWN - Julia Rose Roberts, 98, who resided at Autumn Hills Care Center, was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013.
Julia was born May 1, 1915, in Liberty, McKean County, Pa., the daughter of Stephen and Angelena Ruberto.
Her husband, Joseph Roberts, whom she married on Nov. 24, 1934, at St. Ann Church in Youngstown, died Dec. 23, 1985.
Reading was a favorite pastime for Julia, and she began each day by reading her Bible, followed by prayer.
Julia was the "world's greatest cook" and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She believed family was everything.
She was an avid bowler for many years in the St. Edward's Church-sponsored league at Kay Lanes in Girard. She liked crocheting and made an afghan for each grandchild. Julia was a loving, caring Christian mother.
She will be fondly loved and remembered by her daughter, Julia (Peter) Gabriel of Mineral Ridge; her son, Don (Karen) Roberts of Columbus; son-in-law Ralph D'Onofrio; eight grandchildren, Juliana (Craig) Johnston of Niles, Mary Kay (Mike) Heil of Gilbertsville, Pa., Ralph D'Onofrio of Youngstown, Peter (Amy) Gabriel of Austintown, Joe Gabriel of Canfield, Michael Roberts of Columbus, Carrie (Richard) Wells of Columbus and Lauren (David) Wojnowski of Wauwatosa, Wis.; and 14 great-grandchildren, Allie Roberts, Samuel Wells, Thomas Roberts, Jake Heil, Raechel Heil, Seraiah Wells, Danielle Gabriel, Solomon Wells, Jocelyn Gabriel, Sophia Wells, Peter Gabriel Jr., Alyssa Gabriel, Nicholas Roberts Wojnowski and Amelia Wojnowski.
Besides her husband Joe, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph C. Roberts; a daughter, Mary D'Onofrio; her brothers, Michael and Dominic Ruberto and Ted Roberts; and her sisters, Theresa Sletvold, Carmel DeFabio, Fannie Forde, Audrey Clapp and Ann Liguore.
There will be services celebrating Julia's life at noon Tuesday at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
