WARREN - Hortense Nichols, 69, of 429 Second St., Warren, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at her residence.
She was born March 8, 1944, in Montgomery, Ala., the daughter of Fermon and Emma Boyd Nichols.
Hortense previously worked at Grinnell and retired from Sears in 2007 after more than 30 years in customer service.
She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1962, and graduated from the Warren Business College.
Hortense was a member of Second Baptist Church and a board member of Oakwood Cemetery of Warren.
Survivors include a brother, Timothy Nichols of Warren; two sisters, Betty Culbert and Delores Ann Robinson, both of Warren; a niece, Octavia Denise Culbert; and three nephews, Timothy Nichols, Gabriel Nichols and Daniel Nichols.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Larry Nichols; and a sister, Mattie.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church, where a funeral service will follow 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
