WARREN - Two people authorities said were part of a plot to break into a Niles home last month and steal copper have been indicted on murder charges connected to their alleged roles in the shooting death of one of their partners.
Michael Burns, 33, of Niles and Mindy Sierra, 32, of Mineral Ridge were charged today in a secret indictment with murder and a less serious option of involuntary manslaughter, and attempted aggravated burglary.
They were being held at the Trumbull County Jail on $500,000 bond after pleading not guilty in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Prosecutors said the two were among a group of five that plotted to steal copper from the home on Niles Cortland Road on July 12.
Assistant Trumbull County Prosecutor Chris Becker said on Thursday that charges against two others are expected. A fifth person, Terry D. Allen, 36, of Mineral Ridge died when the homeowner, Roy Hahn, 40, shot through his door, striking him with a bullet.
