NILES - Two men accused of trying to steal a truck from a local concrete business late Thursday night were being held at the Trumbull County Jail on Friday in lieu of $7,500 bond after leading police on a foot chase.

According to reports, Niles police caught Rahan A. Jenkins, 20, of Jackson Street, Warren, and Clemice Thomas Jr., 18, of Niles, after a foot chase around10:30 p.m. Both men were arrested on charges of vehicle theft and breaking and entering.

The theft attempt was not successful because the men were unable to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission, reports state.

Witnesses told police they saw them driving the truck from Marchese Concrete on Mason Street, but that the vehicle was barely moving down Pratt Street and the driver was grinding gears.
