VENICE, Fla. - Richard "Dick" Henry Huibregtse, 77, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, from complications caused by Wegener's disease.
He was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Sheboygan, Wis., and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering.
He retired from Packard Electric Division of General Motors after 34 years of service in Warren and Clinton, Miss. Dick enjoyed his family, golf, computers, singing, skiing and travel.
On July 19, 1958, he married Roberta "Bobbie" A. Johnson of Sheboygan, Wis. The couple has two sons, Richard William of Simi Valley, Calif., and William Mark of Strasbourg, France. Dick and Bobbie have five grandchildren.
In 1998, they moved to Venice, Fla., where Dick served on his neighborhood board and was active in his church and golf groups.
Preceding him in death were his parents and three sisters, Edith Bruggink and Hazel Musebeck of Cedar Grove, Wis., and Carol Healy of Wilmette, Ill.
He is survived by brother Roger Huibregtse of Green Bay, Wis.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Fla. A celebration of life reception will be held with friends and family immediately thereafter at 4 p.m. at the Waterford Sports Club in Venice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice or Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church.
