LISBON - Three Negley women charged in the alleged beating of a Poland woman on Friday turned themselves in at Columbiana County Municipal Court on Tuesday afternoon. Bond was set by Judge Mark Frost at $1,000 cash or surety.
Lakia R. McDevitt, 22, State Line Road, Negley, and Susan Bish, 21, state Route 170, Negley, are each charged with assault. The two friends are accused of teaming up against Bish's brother's ex-girlfriend, Breanna Minniti. Court documents state they attacked Minniti by punching and kicking her in the head, pulling her hair, biting her and throwing her to the ground.
Bish's mother, Peggy A. Bish, 41, state Route 170, Negley, is charged with complicity to assault. Court documents claim she taunted Minniti and then proceeded to allow her daughter and her friend, McDevitt, to assault Minniti. Additionally, she is accused of cheering them on.
An Aug. 29 pretrial was set for each woman. According to sheriff's reports from the assault, Minniti and her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Fereana, had decided to go canoeing together on Friday and he had driven her to his mother's home where the alleged assault took place. The two women reportedly pulled Minniti from the truck by her hair and the assault occurred.
Fereana also reportedly drove Minniti away following the assault. Minniti, 18, was treated at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for head trauma, facial contusions, neck contusions, a left ankle sprain and a human bite.
